Our family of undergraduate researchers bring their experience and acumen together to manage the challenges and projects we take on. We’re always pushing ourselves and each other to try new things and think outside the box.

LAVINA KALWANI
Founder & Project Manager
Lavina Kalwani is a senior at Rice University pursuing Sociology (B.A.) and Neuroscience (B.A.). Her professional interests include criminal justice, bioethics, and international aid. She has served as a U.S. Country Director for Subhiksha, an international nonprofit focused on the rehabilitation of orphaned and abandoned children and led projects as a Research Fellow at the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition. Outside of coursework and academic interests, Lavina enjoys hiking, salsa dancing, and creative writing.

SREE YELURI
Project Lead
Sree Yeluri is a student majoring in Economics and German studies at Rice University. She is interested in the intersection of law and energy economics and is an aspiring lawyer. Sree joined the Pandemic Papers to try to understand the ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic is changing institutions around the world and to conduct rigorous analyses of these changes.

DIKSHA GUPTA
Project Lead
Diksha Gupta is a senior at Rice University. She is majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Data Science. She is passionate about the fields of Cybersecurity and Machine Perception as well as education in computer science and gender equality in STEM. She has taken up the Pandemic Papers because of her interest in Data Science and Analytics as well as curiosity about the current pandemic and its longer term impact. Her recent interests are baking and running!

PARUL SRIVASTAVA
Researcher
Parul Srivastava is a second year at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she plans to graduate with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Computational Data Analysis. Her professional interests include coding, statistics, and social justice. In past years, she founded and ran a local organization called the Community of Racial Equity, which focuses on bringing opportunities to students of color in primarily white institutions. Outside of school and activism, Parul enjoys teaching, painting, henna, and cooking.

RAMYA AJJARAPU
Researcher
Ramya is a rising senior at Rice University, studying Economics and Social Policy Analysis. Over the last few years, Ramya has worked at a security startup, an incubator/accelerator, and as an analyst at a Houston based venture capital firm. On the policy side, Ramya has pursued drug policy work at the Baker institute, and education policy research at the Houston Education Research Consortium. This summer Ramya will be pursuing her passion for business and problem solving at Bain and Company. In her free time, Ramya loves to dance, write poetry, and read.

MOUSHUMI SAHU
Researcher
Moushumi is a rising senior at Rice University studying sociology and biochemistry. In the future, she aspires to impact the field of public health as a physician by understanding the social determinants of health that disproportionately impact specific populations. Moushumi joined the Pandemic Papers to study possible misconceptions that exist surrounding COVID-19, which are worsening our current situation. Additionally, she is interested in grasping the social implications of the pandemic.
